I loved this car seat.Feb 19, 2008 We bought the Cosco rendition of this car seat about 2 1/2 years ago, when our daughter outgrew her infant seat. At the time we drove a 2 door hatch back, and we needed something that would fit in our car rear facing.
We liked this one because it was affordable, had wide straps that were less likely to twist, had easily adjustable straps, and would fit. It transfered well into our mini-SUV, when we upgraded cars.
I liked that you could remove the base, which then created another car seat, and made it smaller, for a tighter fit. Or you could leave the base on, which lifted the seat higher so that our daughter could see out he window better.
A year ago we got in a car accident and it had to be replaced. I was quite disappointed that I couldn't find it on the market. So I replaced it with the Cosco Alpha Omega, which we like too, but not as well.
My second child is now at the point where he needs a convertible, so when I saw this one available I'm buying it.
It really is a good deal, safe, and easy to use (if you read the instructions).

Don't waste your moneyNov 20, 2007 This seat is difficult to install. I finally had to take it to my local fire department for a professional install. Every time I move the seat for any reason, I have to take it back to the fire department. My two year old son has already out-grown the seat by height even though he is well within the parameters. Customer service says this is possible and they can't guarantee it will fit every child. The crotch strap is difficult to fasten and I can barely snap it even though it is at the widest slot and my son is very thin. My son complains about the straps being uncomforable and the crotch hurting. We have to replace this seat for safety reasons and poor fit. There are much better choices available, keep looking!

I thought this would be the last car seat I neededOct 31, 2007 I bought this car seat because it was supposed to be used for children up to 100 pounds and I thought it would be the last one I would need. My son is now 22 months old and he has outgrown the 5-point harness straps because they are not long enough and if he has a jacket on, I can't get them around him. He is too short and does not weigh enough for the shoulder belt system. It is adjusted at it's longest setting and it is too short. I had to buy a new car seat, I just got it in yesterday and it's 5-point harness system is so much better and fits kids until they are tall enough and weigh enough to go to the shoulder belt system. I now have a Graco seat and it is wonderful.

All Prospective ConsumersJul 13, 2007 I gave this product 3 stars simply because I needed to rate the product to submit my review. PLEASE read on...
If you are looking for a good car seat, contact your local Police Department...chances are there is an Officer on the force who is a Certified Safety Seat Installer. This Officer has received special training in the correct way to install safety seats. My husband is one for his department.
Make an appointment with the Officer to do an install...it's a FREE SERVICE, and the Officer will not only install your car seat CORRECTLY, but they will also show you how to do it. If you haven't yet purchased a car seat, you can speak to the Officer for his recommendations. My husband, at a typical Child Safety Event (Events usually sponsored by local hospitals and Ambulance Squads) installs about 100-200 safety seats per event! These Officers not only know what car seats are better, but they might also be able to recommend a seat for your vehicle (depending on how long they have been doing this!). It's worth a few minutes of your time to call them!
Also, if your seat is on a national recall list, or your seat is expired (seats have an Expiration date, which many parents don't realize when handing down a seat from one sibling to a next) the Officer may be able to GIVE YOU A NEW SEAT FOR FREE...on the spot!
The sad fact is that 85% of car seats installed today are improperly installed. 85%! My husband has seen the most loving, intelligent and safety conscious of parents with horribly installed car seats that were completely dangerous! He has also seen, first hand, the tragedy unfold when a child in an improperly installed seat is involved in a very minor accident....the child should have walked away, and didn't.
If you would like more information, please check out www.safekids.org or check out the National Highway and Traffic Safety website for safety ratings and recalls. I implore any parent to do this BEFORE spending the money on ANY car seat, reagrdless of reviews on this website.
