For one, it provides built-in lock-off clips that keep the seat tightly in place when using only traditional seatbelts at installation. Secondly, a simple handle pull allows the car seat base to be reclined when rear-facing, and soft padding and a stain resistant, removable and washable cover keep things cozy and stress-free. In addition, the five-point harness system is made with strong polyester webbing, has tangle free straps, and fits snugly over your baby's shoulders, collarbone and hips to provide a secure fit. There are also four adjustable height positions so the seat can truly grow with your baby. Finally, the one-hand recline adjustment allows for proper positioning, which helps ensure your child's safety. HUGS for Optimum Safety and Support When it comes to safety, the Marathon truly delivers. First, the patented floating HUGS (Harness Ultra Guard) system exceeds U.S. safety standards by reducing forward head movement as it gently cushions the neck and chest with soft padding--a feature that's particularly important both in the case of an accident and during nap time. In addition, this system better distributes the webbing loads, reducing head movement and minimizing harness irritation on baby's neck in case of an impact. HUGS also reduces the chance of improperly positioning the chest clip. Versa-Tether for Additional Security Marathon also offers Britax's patented Versa-Tether, an anchor aid that provides additional security in the forward facing position for children weighing more than 50 pounds. The Versa-Tether fastens the top of the car seat to factory installed automobile anchor points, minimizing the possibility of a head injury in the event of impact. This system also allows for rear-facing tethering to help keep the seat consistently stable. Weighing 16.5 pounds, and measuring 19.5 x 27.5 x 25.5 inches (WxHxD), the Marathon is also Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213 compliant, meaning it adheres to a strict set of quality control and safety standards, and is approved for airline travel. The Marathon comes with a 1-year limited warranty. The Marathon is also available in the following colors: Onyx, Mariposa, Tan Swirl, Crocodile, All Star Blue, New Denim, Cowmooflage, and Granite.

Not exactly small, but great!Jun 30, 2008 My twins are very comfortable in these seats. We switched when they were about 7.5 months old. My daughter is very petite, and still looked so tiny in the seat when we first moved her. I'm skeptical at the claim that it acommodates as small as 5 lbs, but I suppose I've never tried.
Installation was not difficult once I really understood what was going on. [...]. Just make sure you really sit or kneel on it when you're tightening the LATCH connectors, so that it gets tight enough to not move around.
At any rate, we have two of these, my kids love them, and I can tell they'll be around for a good long time. The harness is easy to operate, the velcro tabs on the side are handy so you aren't always digging the straps out from under the child.
Excellent Seat for the MoneyJun 27, 2008 I never take the time to write a review for the products I purchase - just not time it seems, but this car seat is well worth it. From what I understand, the Britax models all have higher crash standard than the Graco's, Evenflos, etc. Yes, it is pricey, but even me being a penny pincher felt I got every bit of my money's worth. Easy to assemble, easy to install, easy to wash...Plus, I was able to find a dicontinued style (just the maternial was no longer being manufactored in that design) on the internet and that helped with the cost. High recommended.
AwesomeJun 26, 2008 We love the Britax seats. This is our 5th one (still use the 1st one we bought and all in between). They are worth the price.
Love it, love it, love it! Best carseat manufacturer indeed!Jun 22, 2008 Our older son had Wizard, Decathlon and now Parkway, all made by Britax. Needless to say, why we went with Marathon with our younger little man. Absolutely amazing qualify and comfort and, most importantly, safety ratings!
PS Despite the fact that we are huge Britax fans, their infant carseats are horrific - huge, heavy and uncomfortable.
Love it!Jun 15, 2008 I had been eyeing the Britax Marathon since I first became pregnant. I didn't want to spend too much on a car seat, but the high safety reviews of this brand/model made my decision easier. I found a great deal on this car seat several months later and couldn't pass it up. While the car seat is a little larger than I expected, it is still easy to use. The installation is a breeze and it is more secure than her previous car seat. She is currently 5 months and seems to be very comfortable in it. I love the fact that she can use it up to 65 pounds. Another great feature is the velcro tabs that keep the straps out of the way while I put my daughter in the seat. The tabs also help to keep the straps from twisting. My only regret is that I did not purchase another one when I came across that deal!
